Experience the South Transept of York Minster illuminated with 3D projections celebrating York's wildlife, including peregrine falcons, foxes, Roman horses and dragons. The event runs nightly from 6 - 9pm, with projections on a 10-minute loop. The final hour is a designated quiet hour with reduced noise and crowd levels. No ticket is needed - simply arrive and enjoy the spectacle.

Unveiled in October 2024 as part of the "Paddington Visits" trail, the nation's favourite bear can be found perched on a park bench in Dean's Park, a 20 second walk from the Minster. Paddington is dressed in his signature red hat and blue duffle coat, munching a marmalade sandwich. And good news, here is plenty of room on the bench to have a photo with him.
Take an immersive journey through 400 years of the city's history. Housed in former 18th-century prison buildings its most renowned exhibit is Kirkgate, a meticulously recreated Victorian street that allows visitors to experience 19th-century life firsthand. During half term the museum is demonstrating how to make conversation lozenges, reminiscent of today's Love Heart sweets.
Jamie Walton – a superlative cellist and soloist performs in the rarely played, but utterly beautiful Shelomo by Ernst Bloch. In the second half, the orchestra performs the exciting 9th Symphony of Dmitri Shostakovich – a deliciously light-hearted work in Shostakovich’s inimitable harmonic style with some gorgeous tunes, especially in the woodwind, and a mischievous glint in the eye! Both Sibelius and Tchaikovsky feature in the programme with two old favourites and orchestral show-off pieces.
