York

Welcome to GuestHouse Hotels!

Welcome to GuestHouse - an independent British hospitality group created by three brothers, Tristan, James and Tom Guest, who together have a love of creating one-off, wonder-filled hotels.

Home to relaxing suites and bedrooms, heavenly spas, and never-tried-that-before dishes, our hotels have a few things in common (like our legendary pantries that your clients can help themselves to!), but always guarantee their own unique charm varied by the cities they're a part of. We have properties in Bath, York, Margate and in summer 2024, Brighton.

Read on to learn about booking No.1 York for your international clients...

Travel Advisor Information No 1 York

Our GuestHouse in York is a show-stopping-stunner, a short 10 minute stroll from York station and within sight of the Minster. Captivatingly designed, it's a unique way to experience the Harry-Potter-esque charm of York.

No.1 is the impressive roof under which sits 38 gorgeous rooms and suites. We're home to the Northern-most outpost of 'Pearly Cow', our fabulous fire & ice concept restaurant and event spaces, along with the Rhubarb Bar and Marmalade Lounge. Further down still, you'll find the quiet retreat of our Spa at No.1, with soothing treatment rooms. Come on in...

Our Boutique Bedrooms

We have five different types of rooms for you to choose from, going from cosy to lofty. Many have fireplaces, lots have leafy views and the two Bootham Suites occupy what used to be a grand drawing room and a luxurious library.

In all of them, you’ll find locally sourced antiques, art and curios that tell York’s stories in the most charming of ways. And just a little down the hall from all of them, you’ll find a Pantry full of complimentary treats for the taking.

For international guests, we recommend starting with our Guest Rooms, ranging up to our signature Clifton Suite.

Incredibly proud and lucky to have so many wonderful women working across all departments at GuestHouse. This International Women’s Day (and every day) we celebrate the incredible women who make us who we are...just a few of who you can see here ✨

To the one you call mum 💌

Celebrating every kind of mother means celebrating in many different ways. Giving them time to log off and enjoy their very own me-time, indulging in Afternoon Tea, relaxing with a Spa treatment or simply everyone sat round the table for brunch or Sunday Lunch, however you choose to celebrate, we’ll make it special 💛

Thank you @elena_impieri for this sweet capture of you and your little one enjoying breakfast in bed at No. 42, Margate!
We gave you a sneak peek into The Hideout Suite at No. 124, Brighton but now it’s time to show you our gorgeous private copper hot tub in The Hideout Suite! Soak in the luxurious tub in your very own way, whether it’s with a glass of bubbles, a book or some relaxing music 🎶

There’s an open-air courtyard plus a rainforest French shower and bath in the bathroom too - it has it all! Can you picture yourself here? 🫧👀 Staycation is in sight…
A guide to a GuestHouse stay - Luggage pick up

Ever noticed one of our cargo bikes at the hotels or around in the city or town? 👀 We’ve always said that a staycation begins the moment you step off the train and wouldn’t it be nice if you didn’t have a suitcase to drag or bags that weighed you down? So that’s where we step in! 🧳

For all guests who book a stay with us, we offer complimentary luggage pick-up to do just this. Tell us where you’re coming from and what time you’ll arrive at Bath Spa, York, Margate or Brighton station and we’ll be there to meet you. We’ll pop your bags into our GuestHouse bikes and drop them back off at the hotel, so you’re free to roam bag-free 🚲

Like the sound of exploring from the get-go?
Check-in and check out room 17 at No.15 Bath 💛
