Margate is the British seaside town that has held its own since it became the place to be in 1730. And we’re sitting on the front in the characterful Old Town, bathing in all the glory of the light dancing on the water.
The old seaside hotel we’ve made our own is one of those Victorian beauties that sits elegantly poised above the main swathe of golden sands, giving its guests dreamy views across the bay. Bedrooms are sometimes balconied and always rich with heritage detailing. There are three places devoted to food and drink - all with their own thing going on and one with bird's eye views, but all holding local ingredients and skills on high. The treatment rooms are there for you and your wellbeing. And, as ever, service is with a very big smile.
We're thrilled to be the proud owners of a Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice awards, which recognises the businesses that rank in the top 10% on Tripadvisor.
There are 21 Guest Rooms and Lookout Suites within the walls of our Victorian dream of a seaside hotel. Original features have been preserved and paired with all the modern stuff you need. Some have balconies for extra greatness. Some have showers for two and four-poster beds. They are all marvellous.
Pearly Cow Margate is is our grill restaurant perched above Margate’s golden sands, devoted to sea-fresh seafood, flame-grilled meats, and just-picked garden greens. With wild local flavour, show-stopping fruits de mer and life-changing beef fat chips, it’s where dreamy sunsets, barefoot afternoons, and post-beach joy collide.
The Treatment Rooms are very-mellow spaces where highly skilled therapists target their expertise on making you feel brand new. Situated on the lower-ground floor of our seaside hotel, you'll find relaxation in abundance. Why not try our Copper Cove experience for the ultimate soothing experience.
Wedding Showcase
Saturday 31st January | 12 - 4 pm
Join us for our next wedding showcase at No. 42. See the house beautifully styled, meet the team, and begin imagining your wedding by the sea.
We've all heard of blue-sky thinking, and sometimes getting the team out of the office into the fresh sea air is just the ticket. Take things up a notch with a meeting in Margate at No. 42.
As any parent knows, happy children are the not-so-secret secret to every great family trip. So, we have a few things up our sleeves to help keep them entertained while they stay with us - and what child doesn't love a seaside hotel!
Other than between 1st May and 30th September, when it's a big, fat no-no, dogs love being on Margate beach (understatement). If you bring yours, we have a few things to make them feel at home.
Every room has a Crosley record player and a few choice records. There's also access to a curated vinyl library so you can soundtrack your stay.
Rolls of Polaroid film are available to purchase when you arrive at Reception. Then, borrow one of our cameras and snap away. Keep those prints and document the memories of your stay.
The contents of our pantry in a handsome vintage ticket booth are all yours to enjoy any time of day or night, and it's all on us. It's stocked daily with sweet and savoury snacks like pots of locally supplied ice cream, homemade baked goodies, soft drinks, and fresh fruit.
Margate is served by Southeastern and you can quickly book your ticket here. The station is only about a 10 minute sea front walk away, but that’s 10 mins you could be bag-free, so let us meet you off your train and take your bags back to the hotel.
We’ll swap your luggage for an umbrella (if it’s one of those days). Get in touch to request your luggage pick up, and we’ll see you at the station.
We have ten private parking spaces available on New Street, located opposite our entrance. Parking is £25 per car, per night and must be booked in advance, as availability is limited.
If our on-site parking is fully booked, Mill Lane Multi-storey Car Park is an excellent nearby alternative. It’s ideal for overnight and longer stays, allowing you to park for the duration of your visit without the need to move your car.
We've collected our most frequently asked questions from our wonderful guests, including questions about check-in times, bringing your pet or children, answered them for you and gathered them together on one page. If you can't find the answer you're looking for, please do give us a call or drop us an email, and our team will be delighted to help.

Spotted Bath in @Netflixuk`s adaptation of Agatha Christie`s Seven Dials? 🕵️♀️🔎
In summer of 2024, some iconic areas in Bath were given a new look as part of the filming for the series. Here are some of the featured film locations and a little of what was happening on Great Pulteney Street, just outside of No. 15 Bath!
Abbey Green - Transformed into the series` Market Basing market square
North Parade - A scene featuring Bundle and Superintendent Battle (played by Martin Freeman) was set here
Great Pulteney Street - The grand street was dressed as 1920s London, and used in the London car chase scene
A little further away
- Gloucestershire`s Westonbirt House - Became Wyvern Abbey, Mr. Lomax’s estate
- Bristol`s Queen Square - Used for London exteriors
