Last year saw our Coach House undergo a little refurb and this year we decided it was time to give some of our Guest Rooms and Bigger Guest Rooms at No. 15 Bath a little more love and a bit more of that GuestHouse magic. So, our wonderful in-house Interior Design Director Emma Montier spent some time drawing up inspiration for the new rooms and brought the mood-board to life.
With a new lick of paint, beautiful new furnishings and décor, these rooms have been beautifully refurbished, From various new lampshades and lamps, to new sofas and cabinets, there's plenty of new details to discover in this rooms. We hope you love the design of the new rooms as much as we do. For those interested beyond the visuals, read on to find out more behind Emma’s design and picks, as well as find out more about Tessa's tapestries at No. 15 Bath.
The design of the Guest Rooms and Bigger Guest Rooms are rooted in the character and heritage of its Georgian setting, allowing the building’s harmonious proportions and elegant architectural features to speak for themselves. A soft peach-toned lime wash on the walls complements the iconic Bath stone backdrop, while classical furniture selections reinforce a sense of timeless refinement.
The surrounding cityscape—defined by its patina of age, ornate ironwork, and florals—is reflected in the use of botanical shapes and prints throughout. This is complemented by a fresh, light, and airy fabric scheme, aligned with the GuestHouse identity, which informs the bed drapery, window treatments, and plush carpeting, creating a calm and inviting atmosphere. We worked with the team at Philip Cowan Interiors who supported the transformation of the new rooms at No. 15 Bath with hand-crafted triple pinch pleat curtains, Roman blinds and matching curtains positioned behind the head of the bed. The brass-toned and satin-finished poles elegantly tie each space.
About Tessa Layzelle
Part of Makers Made, a collective and directory of independent UK homeware makers, Tessa is a designer/maker specialising in what she calls ‘practical paintings’. Her quilts sit in the crossover between artwork and homeware, and she works on commissions for interior designs through to creating heirloom textiles for children. Her work has been featured in the likes of World of Interiors, House & Garden and Elle Decoration.
In select rooms, hand-sewn tapestries by artist Tessa draw on the nods to mysticism found throughout the city. This sense of the ethereal is further expressed through handmade celestial-themed bedside lampshades and delicate glass-domed pendants. Book a stay in one of our new rooms for a chance to see her beautiful tapestry works at No. 15 Bath.
